After looking at the most recent weather and sea forecasts for Saturday we have regretfully decided to cancel the event this year.
The weather forecast has deteriorated significantly (for both Saturday and Sunday) with higher winds that we hoped for, and continuous rain through the morning.
We’re very sorry to disappoint all the participants and volunteers, but we don’t feel we could guarantee a fun (and safe) event in the forecast conditions.
Swimming, cycling and running in the wind and rain isn’t the fun event we’d hoped for!
But thanks for your enthusiasm – and enjoy the rest of the Pride Festival.

DSW and Frontrunners
DSW Swim Club and Frontrunners are organising the third Rainbow Fun Triathlon as a part of the Wellington Pride Festival on Saturday 9 March 2019. It features an 800m sea swim, 10km bicycle ride and 5km run, with teams of up to three people undertaking the three sections. To enter click here: https://dsw.org.nz/rainbow-fun-triathlon-2019/
With most people away for Wellington Anniversary Weekend, there will be no Sunday run on 20 January 2019.
The Wellington Rainbow Sport and Culture Weekend is back, running on 25 to 27 January 2019. There’s a meet and greet drinks, dinner, swimming competition, golf, badminton, same sex dancing and a fun run. There’s more information on the Rainbow Weekend website: www.rainbowweekend.co.nz
With the Wellington Marathon on this weekend, there will be no Sunday run on 1 July. See you next weekend.
Just a reminder that this Sunday (10 June) is our first Frontrunners walk. Same time (9am), same starting place (outside Freyberg). See you then.
As this weekend is the Cigna Round the Bays, there will be no Sunday group run. Good luck everyone, and especially to Paul, Matt and Bruce who are doing the half-marathon!
As part of the Pride Festival Wellington Frontrunners and DSW Swim Club are running a fun triathlon on Saturday 3 March. Registration is FREE. There’s a sea swim (800m), a cycle (10km) and a run (5km) – you can sign up as an individual doing all or just some of the events, and we will form teams from the people who enter. (Volunteers are also needed: fill in the registration form too.)
As it is Wellington Anniversary weekend and lots of people are away, there will be no Sunday morning run this weekend. Wherever you are – you can still go running!
Due to the Wellington Marathon and with some people being away, there will be no group run on Sunday 18 June. See you all next weekend!
