Because of the Round the Bays run this weekend, this Sunday’s run (19 Feb) will occur in the Hutt Valley. We’ll be gathering at the top of Cornish Rd, Korokoro, at 9am, and running towards the Korokoro Dam. We’ll decide on somewhere for brunch afterwards! If anyone wants a lift, let me know.
It would be great to see a good turnout, especially at the Meet and Greet (the Mayor should be attending), and of course the fun run (or walk if you want to walk) on Sunday morning at 9am and the brunch at Karaka Cafe at Te Wharewaka at 11am.
Please note that the Capital Ocean Swim starts at 8am so parking will be in short supply so you might have to park a little further away so arrive early!

Because both Christmas Day and New Years Day fall on Sundays and everyone has other plans, we will have our next Sunday run on 8 January 2017.
There will be a Thursday run in the evening of 22 December, and 29 December.
Happy holidays everyone and a big thank you to everyone who has run with us this year!
The listings for forthcoming events in January, Feburary and March has been updated and there’s lots to check out, with the Wellington Rainbow Sport and Culture Weekend, Round the Bays and the Wellington Pride Festival on the agenda.
Because of the Gazley Wellington Marathon, Wellington Frontrunners are taking a break this Sunday. Paul and Antony are doing the 10k and are planning to head to Espressoholic Café on Cuba St about 11am.
After the tragedy of the shootings at Orlando, the rainbow flag is a powerful symbol of a more peaceful, tolerant and understanding world.
The Rainbow Fun Triathlon is on this Saturday (5 March) and it looks like we’ll have 6 or 7 teams. Register by Thursday 5pm if you’re interested. The registration page is on www.dsw.org.nz We also need some volunteers if you’re free to help. Contact Richard from DSW (email@example.com) if you’re available (9.30-11.30am this Saturday). The individual participants will be emailed on Friday once the teams are put together.
Because of the Triathlon this Saturday, we’ve decided not to hold this Sunday’s usual run.
Round the Bays is on tomorrow (Sunday 21 February), making access to our normal starting point at the Freyberg Pool inaccessible.
For those who aren’t doing Round the Bays this year – which I think is many of us – we’re going to start from someone completely different!
We’re going to start from the Huia Pool, Huia St, off Laings Rd, in Lower Hutt. (http://www.huttcity.govt.nz/…/Swimming-pools-and…/Huia-pool/)
Same gathering time of 9am and we’ll set off at 9.10, probably heading to a Petone café afterwards.
Because of the Ocean Challenge Sea Swim occurring on Sunday morning and the difficulty of getting parking on Oriental Parade, the start point for this Sunday’s run (31 January 2016) will be the Wellington Regional Aquatic Centre in Kilbirnie, usual time 9am.
10am-12pm Saturday 5 March
(Rain date: Sunday 6 March)
Hosted by DSW and Wellington Frontrunners
Get out and proud at the inaugural Rainbow Fun Triathlon will be held on Saturday 5 March 2016 as a part of the Wellington Pride Festival. It features an 800m sea swim, 10km bicycle ride and 5km run, with teams of up to three people undertaking the three sections.
DSW Swim Club and Wellington Frontrunners will create the teams from the registrations.
The focus is on fun rather than competition. It will start from Freyberg Beach at 10am, with a briefing at 9.30am. We’ll head to a local café afterwards for lunch and a beer.
Registrations close on 27 February.
