New Zealand becomes the 13th country in the world to allow marriage equality – and only 27 years after it ceased to be a crime to love an adult of the same gender. What an amazing feat! Congratulations to everyone involved in making this happen. http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/politics/8560494/Marriage-equality-bill-passes-third-reading
Our thoughts are with the families and friends of the athletes and spectators injured and killed near the finish line of the Boston Marathon. It is a sad day for a sport that prides itself on inclusiveness and achieving personal goals that it should be marred in such a tragic way.
Congratulations to all the Wellington Frontrunners who participated in the 2013 Great Forest Run at Waitarere on Saturday. We had a big turnout with 12 participating in either the Half-Marathon run or the 10km run or walk. Ed had another sparkling run, despite recovering from a head cold, finishing 8th in his age group and 16th overall in the half-marathon with a new pb of 1.27.16. And thanks to Paul R and Ed for organising the fantastic accommodation at Sea Breeze at Waikanae. The full results can be found here: http://tiktok.biz/greatforestevents/2013
Wellington FRs was well represented by Ed, Matt, Nigel, and Paul B in Martinborough on Sunday 17 March for the annual Round the Vines 10km run. Although this is a ‘fun run’, that didn’t stop Ed taking the lead and finishing in a very creditable 6th place. Only fitting for our youngest FR to be our current fastest FR; well done Ed! Others in the group did opt for the “fun” aspect of the run and sampled wine along the way.
Congratulations to all the Frontrunners who participated in the Round the Bays last weekend. Ed can take a bow for a spectacular time of 24m46s in the 7km, the 35th person home (four minutes after the winner) and 10th in his age group. And congratulations to those who did the the Iveco Half Marathon (Nigel, Paul B & our American visitor, Alejandro). The full results are here: http://tiktok.biz/wellingtonroundthebays/2013/
